A KARAOKE CONTEST WITH A TWIST, MARCH 15th THROUGH 18th. IT’S A CHANCE TO SING YOUR WAY TO THE 45th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS APRIL 18th IN LAS VEGAS!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS. WE PICK THE COUNTRY SONGS YOU SING AND BLIND FOLD OUR JUDGES, SO YOU’RE JUDGED ON PURE TALENT ALONE. WE’LL GET 15 QUALIFIERS FROM THREE PRELIMINARIES, 5 EACH NIGHT:
MONDAY THE 15th AT WOLF’S PRAIRIE IN BERRIEN SPRINGS
TUESDAY THE 16th AT THE WOUNDED MINNOW IN DOWAGIAC
WEDNESDAY THE 17th AT PEBBLEWOOD RESTAURANT & BANQUET HALL IN BRIDGMAN
THE FINALE IS THURSDAY THE 18th AT PEBBLEWOOD WHEN OUR WINNER AND A GUEST GET A TRIP FOR TWO TO VEGAS AND THE ACM AWARDS SHOW. PRELIMINARY REGISTRATIONS START AT 6:30, CONTEST AT 8. Sing Your Way to the ACM’s Awards in Las Vegas Rules
1) Qualifiers must be 21 years of age or older, (with a valid state issued driver’s license).
Qualifiers must not have won any MAJOR prize (over $500) from Mid-West Family
Broadcasting within 30 days of qualification and may qualify only once during the contest
period. One qualifier per household.
2) Contest will take place on March15 –Wolf’s Prairie in Berrien Springs, 16 –Wounded Minnow in Dowagiac, 17 – Pebblewood Restaurant & Banquet Hall and Finale March 18 at Pebblewood Restaurant & Banquet Hall.
3) Contest qualification is non-transferable. Mid-West Family Broadcasting and WYTZ, shall have no responsibility for failure to win or claim prize based on difficulties with telephone lines or any other circumstances.
4) 10 people will be chosen to participate in each qualification contest and they will sing random songs that they draw out of a fish bowl- drawing of song is final, no substitutions. Identity of performing qualifiers will remain a secret to the judges, Performing qualifiers will be assigned numbers along with songs and will remain in audience until number is called. Contestants will remain anonymous to judges who will be wearing blindfolds. Top 5 performing qualifiers will move on to finale at Pebblewood Restaurant & Banquet Hall on March 18 at 8pm. Finale will follow same anonymous rules. 15 qualifiers will keep their original numbers and will sing 1 song each randomly picked night of contest out of a fish bowl and 1 COUNTRY song of their choice. Qualifiers will be narrowed down to top 5. Winner will be chosen.
Judging Criteria:
TALENT/ABILITY Shows a high level of proficiency in singing performance.
Adjusts & adapts talent to random song.
PRESENTATION OF TALENT Contestant executes performance in a skillful manner. Audience shows positive response to performance.
Registration forms must include contact information for where they can be reached. Entry form information must be complete.
5) Qualifiers can only qualify once, must be present to win at contest finale and prize is non-transferable.
6) Mid-West Family Broadcasting is not responsible or liability for any problems associated with contest or prize.
7) Any and all other sponsors/advertisers involved with any promotion assume no responsibility for situations, repairs, or incidents arising from any aspect of any and all prizes awarded.
8) Prize is not redeemable for cash, and no cash equivalent will be awarded. Winner is responsible for any and all taxes per state and federal law.
9) The voices and/or pictures of contest qualifiers and winner may be used for promotional and/or broadcast purposes by Mid-West Family Broadcasting.
10) Mid-West Family Broadcasting, WSJM, Inc. their employees, advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors and their employees including Karaoke DJ, and immediate families (i.e., siblings, in-laws) are not eligible. Employees of radio and/or television stations broadcasting within a 50-mile radius of Mid-West Family Broadcasting are also not eligible.
11) Mid-West Family Broadcasting reserves the right to amend or append these rules at any time during the contest.
