The Detroit Regional Chamber has unveiled its annual State of Education and Talent report for 2024.

Pollster Richard Czuba, founder of the Glengariff Group, said his recent survey showed many people thought higher education isn’t always worth the financial commitment.

Only 22% of Michigan voters said, yes, it was worth the money,” Czuba said. “52% said it is not. And another 23% said it depends on the degree. If you’re a high school graduate, only 20% say college is worth the money.”

Overall, college enrollment in Michigan has declined over the past five years.
