Parents of the Oxford High School shooting victims continue calling for further investigation into the school shooting.

The parents are calling on lawmakers, once again, to fund a state-led investigation into the events leading up to the shooting to protect children from future school shootings.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel held her own press conference this week, saying she wouldn’t have any more power over the case than the Oakland County authorities already possess.

If the sheriff and prosecutor do not suspect specific crimes at this stage, if there’s nothing upon which to predicate a criminal investigation that has subpoena power, that’s not going to change when the case is handed over and the case files come to my department,” Nessel said.

The statute of limitations is six years, so charges could still be filed.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald responded, saying, “We are not aware of any action needed by my office to activate the Attorney General’s authority.”
