NCAAFB – Michigan coach Sherrone Moore fires offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell
Michigan coach Sherrone Moore has fired offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell. Moore made the move three days after the Wolverines closed the regular season with a 13-10 upset over rival and then second-ranked Ohio State. The defending national champions struggled on offense this year and it cost Campbell his job. Moore promoted Campbell to the position, which he had under former coach Jim Harbaugh before he left to lead the Los Angeles Chargers. The first-year coach said tight ends coach Steve Casula will be the team’s offensive coordinator while he searches for a new one.

NCAAFB – Ducks’ Gabriel, Nittany Lions’ Carter, IU’s Cignetti take top Big Ten honors
The Big Ten Conference announced Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel is its offensive player of the year after leading the top-ranked Ducks to their first perfect regular season since 2010. Penn State’s Abdul Carter is defensive player of the year and Indiana’s Curt Cignetti coach of the year in voting by coaches and media. Ohio State had seven players named to the coaches’ first team. Iowa led the media’s first team with five selections.

NCAAFB – Miami’s playoff hopes nosedive as Alabama rises in the latest playoff rankings
Miami’s playoff hopes took a nosedive while Alabama’s got a boost in the last rankings before the College Football Playoff bracket is set next weekend. The Hurricanes moved down six spots to No. 12 after suffering their second loss of the season. They are one spot behind the Crimson Tide, who won won last week and moved up two spots to No. 11. Alabama is projected as the last team in and the fourth from the Southeastern Conference. Oregon stayed at No. 1 for the fifth straight week and will head into Saturday’s Big Ten title game as the only undefeated team in big-time college football.

NFL – Packers’ improving run defense ready for NFC North-leading Lions
Defending the run has been one of the Green Bay Packers’ weaknesses over the last several years. Not so much lately, though. Green Bay limited San Francisco to 16 carries for 44 yards in a 38-10 rout of the 49ers on Nov. 24. The Packers then beat Miami 30-17 by holding the Dolphins to 39 yards on 14 carries. It was the first time since 1995 that the Packers had allowed fewer than 45 yards rushing in back-to-back games within the same season. Green Bay ranks eighth in the NFL in rush yards allowed per game.
