Authorities have closed a case of a reported kidnapping after an investigation.
After a nine-year-old Niles resident reported an attempted abduction by a male wearing a ski mask and driving a red Ford pickup truck, the Niles Police Department announced Thursday that the ‘incident did not take place as reported by the victim,’ and the case has been closed.
According to a release by Niles PD, the child said a man attempted to abduct him in the 1300 block of Hickory Street on Oct. 3 around noon. Officers investigated the reported incident and located video of the reported suspect vehicle.
Through further investigation and interviews with the reported victim, witnesses, and possible suspect, investigators determined that the case was unfounded.
