The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department has acquired a drone thanks to donations from two local partners. Honor Credit Union and Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services teamed up to provide the funding for the department’s EVO II drone from Autel Robotics. The drone has thermal imagining capabilities to help find a suspect or missing person in low light situations. The sheriff’s department says the device will also help police make informed decisions during some of the most stressful circumstances. The drone is valued at more than $11,000. Sheriff Paul Bailey thanked Honor Credit Union and Starks Family Funeral Homes for their help.
