The Michigan Department of Transportation will start a project to widen I-94 in Kalamazoo starting next week. It says in a new video the highway will expand from four lanes to six lanes.

The project also includes rebuilding four bridges and one culvert, traffic signal upgrades, new signs, freeway lighting, and noise barrier installation. Early on, eastbound I-94 will shift to the westbound lanes with two lanes of traffic in each direction. This could cause slowdowns for those heading through Kalamazoo. Later, in the winter, two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction. The overall project is expected to be finished in November of next year.
